our vision

A new generation of women and men are redefining what it means to be a feminist in our society. While some view them simply as part of Generation X, they see themselves as part of a burgeoning feminist movement called third wave feminism.

Third wave feminists are active in a variety of social issues. However, increasingly the topic of women’s sexual lives and choices has become a signature of third wave feminism. Drawing from the lessons of their feminist foremothers, and redefining it on their own generational terms, third wave feminists are exploring the many facets of women’s sexuality.

Sexing the Political: A Journal of Third Wave Feminists on Sexuality is a monthly on-line journal for third wave feminists to theorize, satirize, politicize and organize about issues related to sexuality. It is intended to serve as a forum for the creative and radical political expression of third wave feminists from diverse cultural, sexual, and economic perspectives.

about the editor

Krista Jacob, MS, a third wave feminist, received her master’s of science in women’s studies from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She has presented at state and national conferences about issues related to violence against women, third wave feminism, images of women in the media, abortion, and adolescent women’s issues. Her work experience includes seven years as a rape/domestic violence victim advocate, and an anti-violence educator.

Her essay: "Crime Without Punishment: Pornography in a Rape Culture," was published in Just Sex: Students Rewrite the Rules on Sex, Violence, Activism, and Equality, (Rowman & Littlefield) edited by Jodi Gold and Susan Villari (2000). Future writing projects include co-editing two feminist anthologies: I Will Choose: Writings About Abortion, and It’s a Bloody Evolution: Gen X Women Rewrite Their Reproductive Destinies.
